The Kashmir Great Lakes Trek is a captivating journey that takes you through some of the most stunning and remote landscapes in the Himalayas. This high-altitude trek is set in the heart of Kashmir, often referred to as "paradise on Earth," and offers trekkers a rare chance to experience the region’s untouched beauty. Over seven days, you’ll traverse a mix of serene alpine lakes, lush meadows, and towering snow-capped peaks. The trek covers five glacial lakes, each more stunning than the last, making it one of the most scenic and rewarding treks in India.

Starting from the charming city of Srinagar, the adventure takes you through varied terrain — from gentle walks across rolling meadows to steep climbs over high mountain passes like the Gadsar Pass. The trek is a feast for the eyes, offering breathtaking views of Kashmir's iconic landscapes, including Vishansar, Krishansar, Gadsar, Satsar, and Gangbal Lakes, all surrounded by soaring peaks and vibrant wildflower meadows. Along the way, you’ll camp under starry skies by the shores of these pristine lakes, fully immersed in the tranquility of the wilderness.

The trek is ideal for both seasoned trekkers and nature enthusiasts, combining moderate challenges with the serenity of Kashmir’s natural beauty. Itinerary

Your journey starts in Srinagar, where you’ll check into a hotel and attend an important briefing session about the trek ahead. This session covers safety protocols, trekking techniques, and what to expect on the trail. After the session, you’ll explore some of Srinagar's famous sights, including the Mughal Gardens, Dal Lake, and the bustling local markets. This introductory day ensures you’re well-prepared and relaxed before the adventure begins. Overnight stay in Srinagar.

After breakfast, a scenic drive from Srinagar to Sonamarg (2 hours) sets the tone for the adventure. From Sonamarg, the trek begins towards Vishansar Lake, passing through mesmerizing landscapes of alpine meadows and snow-covered peaks. This 4–5-hour trek is filled with breathtaking views, and upon reaching Vishansar Lake, you’ll camp by the serene waters, enjoying a peaceful night in nature.

Today, you’ll hike to Krishansar Lake, just a 2–3-hour trek away. The views of this high-altitude lake are spectacular, and you’ll have time to relax by the water, take photos, or even fish. After enjoying the day at the lake, you’ll return to your campsite at Vishansar for another night under the stars.

The day begins with a 6-7 hour trek to Gadsar Lake, crossing the famous Gadsar Pass. The alpine meadows and mountain vistas are awe-inspiring as you make your way through this high-altitude region.Upon arrival at Gadsar Lake, you’ll set up camp for the night, surrounded by the untouched beauty of Kashmir's wilderness.

On this day, you’ll embark on a 5-6 hour trek to Satsar Lake. The journey takes you through a series of smaller lakes, offering endless opportunities for photography and admiration of the natural landscape. The campsite near Satsar Lake will be your home for the night.

Today’s trek takes you from Satsar Lake to the stunning Gangbal Lake, which lies at the foot of the towering Harmukh Peak. The 6-7 hour trek is challenging but rewarding, as you’re treated to some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in Kashmir. You’ll camp by Gangbal Lake and enjoy one last night in the wilderness.

On the final day, you’ll trek from Gangbal Lake to Naranag (6-7 hours). After reaching Naranag, a vehicle will pick you up and transport you back to Srinagar. Depending on your schedule, you may have time for a bit of last-minute sightseeing or shopping before departing from Srinagar.
